There was a tie for the the top prize Colin Gillespie of Jubilee Street, and Terry and Dolly Ryan of Hoskins street both taking home first place.
Competition was tight in the 2016 competition, which included houses in Hermidale as well this year.
Third place in the open category was awarded to Wayne Cook of Wambiana Street.
Highly Commended awards were given to John and Betty Berwick of Cobar Street; Ebony Martin of Collins Street and Gladys Thompson from Hermidale.
Encouragement awards were presented to Sophie, Thomas and Ruby Walsh of Cathundril Street and Indie and Gracie Griffiths of Gregory Street.
There were several new entrants in the 2016 competition.
The best new entrant award was given to Claire Piper of Wambiana Street, second was Bradley and Chelsey Fitzalan of Bogan Street, and third was Dot Boland of Cathundril Street.
In the Business House section, new entrant Two Gorgeous Girls was awarded first place; the Hermidale Post Office was second and St Mark’s Op Shop was third.
The 2016 Landmark Rural Mailbox Competition was hotly contested this year, with Brian and Coral Field “Woodlands” again taking the top prize with their motorbike riding Santa Claus.
New entrants Jim and Will Boag “Belar Creek” were second with a Christmas tree created from a chemical shuttle and tractor tyres.

Doclan and Giann Jackson “Bogan River Downs”were third with a Christmas tog up of their already famous Emu mailbox.
Michael Cameron “Woodburn” received a Highly Commended award.
The placegetters were presented with their awards by the judges, councillors Veneta Dutton and Jodi Douglas in Davidson Park just before Christmas, last year.

The 2017 Christmas lights competition will be as tough as ever, with new lights being collected throughout the year and new entrants gearing up for the festive season.
