Twenty players including a couple of the fairer sex teed off in Saturday's stableford.
Better known as a gun cricketer, young Jack Lupton, with 29 points was a little bit better than the rest of the field, he came home with 21 points, despite putting his tee shot in the drink on the 18th.
Rodney Her4bert dinished with 38 points, his tale of woe was three putting the first and the 18th and a couple of wash outs on the back nine, Tex Tomek and Pat Walsh along with Mark Keighran all had 35 points.
The best of the ladies was Alison Morriss with 37 points over shadowing Tara McDermott. Pin winners were Nate Matheson and Chook Hawsley.
A dead heat in Sunday's ambrose with president Peter Murphy and Bronwyn Bridge along with Dang Holmes and Pat Walsh locked together on 30.62 nett.
The countback, thanks to a birdie by the president over the Cowal, went their way. Not that far away was Greg and Dean Woods. Nearest to the Pin was Murphy.
The other one got lost in transit.
Round 10 of twilights was won by Bogan Bunkers with a fair score of 44 points.
Their team is Mim Patemen, Margie Spicer, Pat and Sub Tex. At this stage the Aussie Hotel are once again outright leaders on 16 points, one ahead of Neill Earthmoving.
Highlight of the week was the two man team of Brendan Smith and James Stanton of Riverside Van Park, winning their match.
Lowlight of the week was the four man team Murphy's Hardware, losing.
The usual golf next week is 18 holes Saturday and the morning game on Sunday.
Badge draw stands at $500 and another jackpot putt is under way. Matho was the first cab off the rank with a good effort from way back.
The club will not be open on Thursday on Australia Day. Please remember that subs are due at this time of year. No increase in fees this year.
RUGBY LEAGUE
THE under 16 Western Rams may have been outclassed by their Manly Warringah Sea Eagles rivals on Saturday, but coach Kurt Hancock still sees a bright future for his young players.
Saturday’s match at Caltex Park was the final chance for 31 Western Rams hopefuls to press their claims for a place in the squad for this year’s Country Championships.
St John’s junior James ‘Busta’ Nelson finished as Western’s man of the match, setting up his side’s only try. Manly proved to be too slick as they ran out 56-4 winners.
