LOCAL ARTS AND CULTURE
A $2.5 million fund for local arts and cultural infrastructure, which will increase participation and drive cultural tourism, is now open for applications. The ClubGRANTS Category 3 program offers between $100,000 and $300,000 in grants to develop and enhance arts and cultural facilities. Particular emphasis will be given to projects that support disadvantaged and regional and remote communities by the independent assessment panel, which will include representatives from the arts and tourism sectors. Over this term of government, approximately $50 million in ClubGRANTS will be provided to local communities in NSW to support infrastructure across three categories: sport and recreation, arts and culture, and emergency relief facilities. Expressions of interest for ClubGRANTS Category 3 for arts and culture infrastructure will be taken until 10 March 2017. Approved applicants will then be invited to lodge a formal application. LOCAL LAND SERVICES ELECTIONS
The 2017 Local Land Services locally elected board member elections will be held at the end of May and they are now calling for nominations from interested ratepayers. This will be the second local board election, where local representatives are elected by ratepayers for each of the 11 local boards. The elections will take place on 31 May, but ratepayers will need to enrol by 31 March, to ensure that they are sent ballot papers in time for voting. Three of the seven local board members in 10 regions and four in the Western region are elected by Local Land Services ratepayers. The remaining three and the Chair are Ministerially-appointed. Together the elected and appointed board members play an important role in setting the strategic direction of the organisation, promoting the services offered and communicating the priorities and concerns of customers to local boards. Information about the election process and an enrolment form will be posted with 2017 rates notices and can be downloaded from www.lls.nsw.gov.au. Board members will be announced by the end of June 2017
