The approaching Council Of Australian Governments has renewed calls for support of the Gonski funding model. The Gonski report was an independent review of Australian schools that developed a needs-based funding model to provide a minimum resource standard for all schools.

Despite overwhelming evidence of success, the federal government maintains its plan to end the Gonski funding model after 2017, the Parkes electorate alone stands to lose $37 million in funding from its schools.

Gonski funding is already responsible for several initiatives benefiting students in Nyngan schools including: The Brospeak program, Aboriginal Dance workshops, General equity funding for sports and cultural excursions and resources.

The Nyngan Teacher’s association are calling on community members to help secure Gonski funding by:  Calling Mark Coulton on (02) 6882 0999 and visiting www.igiveagonski.com.au to sign the petition. The Nyngan Teachers’ Association
