Pennants

Well the ride still continues for the men’s bowls in this year’s Pennants, with the Grade 4 players traveling to Dubbo on the weekend for a double-header on Saturday, and what a great result it was.

Firstly they played Dubbo Railway, and Dubbo Railway had no answer for the strong Nyngan side, Nyngan winning with a margin of more than 20 points.

Having only an hours rest the Nyngan bowlers then crossed the railway line to play Dubbo City.

The Dubbo City players were nice and fresh and despite all the cheering from the Dubbo supporters the tough Nyngan side held strong together, and came away with a six-point win.

The results putting Nyngan on top of the point score with a massive lead but there is three more games to play, and two of them are at home.

The Nyngan grade 7’s team travelled to Cobar on Sunday and like their teammates that travelled to Dubbo, they gave the Cobar boys something to think about when they come to Nyngan to play in the return match winning 65 to 44.

These bowlers are doing their club and town proud, keep up the good work.

GOLF

ROUND 19

At Nyngan Golf Club ‘Country Nutz’ with 46 points were the week's winners of round 19.

The Country Nutz team consists of Rex Vane, Lyn Haley, John Wynne and George Bennett.

This week is the penultimate round with a very congested leader board.

The ‘Aussie Hotel’ team is on 23 points and have a very narrow lead over ‘Neill Earthmoving’, ‘Macqaurie Electrics’ and ‘Kev Martin Plumbing’ teams which are all sitting on 22 points.

‘The Plumbers’ were the only team in the top four to win last week.

‘Chook’ Hawley had a narrow win in Saturday's stroke with 68 nett, a better than average chipper and putter, he took four shots to get it in the hole from just off the green on the 11th.

Les Dorrington with 69 nett had three birdie attempts in a row on the back nine and could not nail any.

Greg Matheson and Pat Walsh on 71 nett were next best.

Dean Woods and Ash Scott had 29.37 nett in Sunday's game birdies on the 13th and 18th were the highlights of their game.

Both are very long hitters which gives them plenty of birdie chances.

Tim Tulenew and Pat Walsh on 29.87 nett, needed to sink a 15 footer on the 18th to get past winners but failed.

Tara McDermott and Brendan Smith on 31nett, were a big chance until the last.

Weekend pin winners were Pat and Matt Sheather on Saturday and Grant Webster and Boots Holmes on Sunday.

Next weekend is the NSW Sand Greens mens four ball at Walgett.

We have a dozen going, good luck to everyone.

At home we have a par on Saturday and just a few more Sunday Morning games.

Badge Draw is for $500, the Jackpott putt was not won and approximately $600 after my (Pat Walsh's) ordinary attempt last week.
