The ride of 375 kilometres, consisted of 25 riders who are passionate about raising money and awareness about cancer and making life easier for patients and carers who have to travel for treatment. 

At the time of print, the riders had raised $56,640, more than double their original goal.

Amongst the riders were local cyclists Kerrie and Mick Cooper. Mrs Cooper said it was an important cause to people affected by cancer out west. 

"This is a cause close to my heart because in 2009 my father, the late Pat Walsh, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer,” she said.

“There are many more out here in the Western Region going through battles with various cancers and to have a home away from home is very important in their fight as it gives them a place for family and friends to visit and five support. A place where they can be comfortable when they are feeling their lowest.”
