The mayor said March should be excluded from daylight saving months as the days are much shorter and there are no great benefits.
“I’m disappointed to see daylight saving hasn’t been wound back to exclude March this year,” he said.
“Any sort of benefits have now ended and the days are shorter.”
Cr Donald said he’d like to see the National Party push for a shorter daylight saving period.
“People in state parliament need to understand why to wind it back, kids are going off to school in the dark in the morning. Even the city people have minimal benefits. All people appreciate the four core months,” he said.
“Stand up and advocate change.”
Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries agrees with Cr Donald saying the clock change goes on for too long.
“I have long said that daylight saving goes for a month too long and we as a National Party need to push to have it shortened,” he said.
The Nyngan Observer asked our Facebook followers what they thought of Daylight Saving with very mixed response.
Veneta Dutton said she would rather the time change in the winter months.
“[I] hate it, especially putting the kids to bed, major nightmare. It would be better in winter when it gets dark at 5.30pm, it allows people to get home before dark,” she said.
Whereas Victor Grant however loves the daylight saving period.
“I love it, gives people time to spend time with the family after work, six months is great,” he said.
