BOGAN BULLS
TICEHURST SCORES FIRST TRY
The Bulls travelled away for their first game of the season on Saturday, leaving most of their WAGs (wives and girlfriends) and home for a hen's party.
Despite the lagging support crew the boys ran on with excitement, with their new jerseys and high hopes to match last year's 2016 premiership.
They started off on the right beating Gular at Gilgandra with a 26 to 15 win.
Club president Greg Moody was very proud of the boys.
"It was a solid start for the Bulls," he said.
Newly instated captain Craig Ticehurst crossed the line first.
Recently returned fullback Declan Hoare, flanker Simon Bell and comeback sensation Peter Broome also crossed the line to seal the victory.
Mr Moody said it was also an exciting day for the club with debuts and comebacks.
"Debuts go to Adi Spicer and Jayden Bonello who both ripped in and added depth to the side. Prop Nelso Tioane had his first full game for the club after a season ending injury in the first game last year," he said.
The boys 3-2-1 point system is back for 2017.
Points this week went to Tommy Cleaver, Hoare and Tioane.
The boys have a general bye this week as half the team travel to Port Macquarie for Western Plains rugby and the other half recover from their intense game this week.
Catch the boys on May 6 in and against Walgett.
First home game which is also sponsors and members day on May 13 against Warren, a game not to be missed.

LITTLE ATHLETICS
What another successful season our Nyngan little athletics club have had. We have now finished up after our state carnival which was held in Sydney on March 18 & 19 at Sydney Olympic park.
A Huge Congratulation must go to our 3 state qualifiers Will Black, Cooper Black & Gemma Boland your enthusiasm and continual efforts have paid off and your achievements at state level are something you all should be very proud.
The weather over the weekend was terribly wet so to compete in those conditions and still have finished with personal best results is outstanding.
A special mention to Gemma as she finished 4th in the state for her high jump which was amazing as she as achieved huge results this season even breaking a few records.
Our club is a small club but we certainly have some talent out here in the bush.
Throughout our season our children have enjoyed our club nights which are held every Thursday at Larkin oval at 4.30pm.
We also have the opportunity to attend gala days which are hosted in our area the children get to meet other athletes and also experience the different track and fields that are around.
Thank you to all parents for giving up their time to help out whether it be our club nights or getting the children to these gala days if it wasn’t for your efforts the club would not function.
Thank you to our committee for another successful season.
Our committee would also like to express how very proud we are of our 3 state representatives and we wish them all the very best in the off season and look forward to seeing you all and hopefully some new face next season which will start in term 4.
RUGBY LEAGUE
COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
UNDER-18s
Despite the under-18s Country Championship title sitting pretty in Western’s trophy cabinet, there was still plenty to play for in Saturday’s juniors match.
In the end, Group 11 proved exactly why it dominated the championship winning Rams outfit with a 28-10 win over Group 10 at Parkes’ Jock Colley Field.
The red and blacks’ right edge was electric, Westside flier Kaylan Murray bagging a treble and Parkes centre Ben Davis scoring one in the commanding win.
Group 11 coach Byron Warren admitted the clash has lost some of its gloss with no Rams jumpers on offer.
“Yes and no … it’s a touchy one,” he said.
“Whether things will change next year is something different, the kids just love footy.
“Once they’re in the warm-up, in the dressing sheds they’re footballers and that’s what they want to do.
Group 11 shot out to an early 18-0 lead before before heading into the half time break at 18-6.
The hosts had picked a stack of its Western representatives, with Luke Gale and Clayton Couley both coming off the bench.
Gale, particularly, was strong on the right break mid-way through the final term setting Murray up for his third try.
The 28-10 scoreline was a fitting one for a Group 11 side brimming with talent.
“We ripped in and the boys played for each other. We got the job done in the middle and that made it easier for the guys out wide.”
“We didn’t pick all of the Rams guys...but the kids that came in did a great job. They’re easy kids to coach and they want to learn.”
