His grandfather brought the medals out to Nyngan from Griffith with him and Jimmy was delighted to wear them.
His great grandfather Mervyn Hurst, now 92, fought in World War II in the Air Force and was posted at Papua New Guinea.
Mervyn’s brother and Jimmy’s great uncle, Kevin Hurst, was killed in a bomb explosion while training at Kapooka.
The seven year old St Joseph’s Primary School student has attended the remembrance service at Kapooka with great-grandfather.
Jimmy was one of many students wearing a relative’s medals.
Other students from St Joseph’s Primary School, Nyngan Public School, Hermidale Public School, Nyngan High School and Marra Creek Primary School marched with pride with their badges pinned to their school shirts.
