Tigers win all four grades

It was a successful weekend for the Tigers who travelled over to Wellington, all four grades came home with wins against the Wellington Cowboys.

The girls got the ball rolling with a strong display against the Cowgirls. Our girls were on top from the start with Emma Teale and Alanah Ryan leading the way, we were never really troubled, well done girls.

The under 18s produced a near faultless opening 20 minutes to lead the cowboys 20 to nil. But the boys went away from the game plan a bit and after that turned over a bit of football to allow Wello to get back into the match for a bit.

The Tigers’ defence was top shelf, Wello only really scored from broken play and hardly troubled us in the middle. Cooper Barrow was dangerous, he set up three tries and made a difference any time he had the ball in his hands.

The Reggies continued their good form from the first round.

Dek has got these boys going well, they ran away with the game in the end but the final score of 44 to 20 wasn’t a real indication of how hard the boys worked to get the win.

Brad Toole and Jeff Lennon were strong up front as was Lee Wright, he got through plenty of work in defence and also carried the ball strongly. In the backs, Matty Sheather was good as was centre Dallas Boyd who brings plenty of energy to the side.

The first grade clash was a see-sawing event which went down to the wire. Our boys kept Wello in it with pool ball handing, crippling a lot of our early chances.

The Tigers trailed 12 to nil early, but once we held onto the footy we scored some nice tries.

We let Wello back into the game late and had a nervous couple of minutes before full time but we we were able to come away with a hard fought 28 to 24 victory.

Little hooker James Fisk was good, he added plenty of spar, along with Reece Goldsmith.

Around the ruck, halfback Boo Howard was busy. Winger Jackson Hedges did some good things. Well done to the Tigers.

Tigers are on the road again next week taking on Narromine.
