President Will Marr said it was a fantastic day full of great exhibitions from people around the Shire.

“It’s a beautiful day,” Mr Marr said in his address. 

The Show committee awarded a special participant of the Nyngan Show, Nerida Wright.

“The Show has been going 127 years and we have a person who has been involved, not quite that long, but almost half of that time,” Vice-president Chris Elder said.

“The Show like to give credit to people who help the Show. This year a life membership has been bestowed upon Nerida Wright. 

“Years of dedication in Nyngan. She’s a wonderful cook and a willing participant. There’s a great service she’s given to the Nyngan Show,” he said.

She thanked the Show Committee for the gesture.

Special guest Bob Deacon, a comedian from Nyngan who now lives in Sydney, told the crowd to follow their dreams and not to limited. 

The entertainer explained how he got from the Nyngan School band into theatre and comedy, he has now had sold out comedy shows and has starred in television series like Love Child.

He said he was delighted to officially open the Nyngan Show.

Showgirl Emily Pitt and her fellow Showgirls were also officially sashed.

“The Show is a vital part of the community and showcases the best of local produce,” she said at the grand opening.

“I’ve met so many inspiring and strong women and I hope to be like one of these rural women in my role as Showgirl. 

“Thank you and congratulations to the Show Society for a fantastic event.”

Mr Marr said now is a great time for people to have a look at how they can be involved in next year’s Show.

“A lot of inspiration in the Show Schedule, start looking for next year, all the things you can enter,” he said.
