NSW STATE BUDGET
I am very pleased that the NSW Government’s Budget, announced on June 20, will continue with record levels of investment in infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, roads and public transport, laying the foundations for communities across Barwon and NSW to flourish. The government is continuing its investment in infrastructure, with $72.7 billion committed over four years, which allows for continued investment in infrastructure projects across Barwon.

This funding combined with multi-electorate projects are essential investments now to enable the next phase of growth in our electorate.
In Barwon the costs of doing business and costs of living will be eased due to a range of tax cuts in this budget including stamp duty for first home buyers, Lenders Mortgage Insurance duties and duties on crop and livestock insurance. These tax reductions are expected to save farmers and NSW small businesses including those in Barwon, a total of $330m over the next four years. Small business is critical in the Barwon economy and these tax cuts will ease the pressures business-owners feel. I’m proud that duties on crop and livestock insurance will be abolished from the start of next year.
Furthermore, as part of the Service NSW Regional and Rural Strategy, communities of Lightning Ridge, Nyngan and Walgett will have new Service Centres built which represents a significant investment in access to services for people in these communities. These Service Centres will offer access to over 970 NSW Government transactions as well as continue to provide driver testing.
This Budget delivers real change for families, retirees, small business owners and residents living across the electorate of Barwon, laying the foundation for future growth across our community. This is a fantastic result for our communities across the huge electorate of Barwon

HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT LIQUOR LICENSING
Members of our Barwon communities and other stakeholders can now have their say directly to government on the way community views are presented in liquor licence proposals. There’s been a lot said recently about liquor licensing. Now is the time to have your say and tell the Government what you think. The review provides an opportunity for the community to better understand the liquor licensing process, including Community Impact Statements, which are required as part of the assessment of liquor licences. It’s important that those potentially affected by liquor licences have input into the assessment process, whether they be residents, councils, police or others. But it’s also important that pubs, bars and other venues can continue to provide options for people who want to socialise and enjoy themselves. There are a lot of myths out there about liquor licensing. The Government is not about stopping people from enjoying themselves, but we do have a responsibility to protect public safety.
Submissions close on Wednesday 26 July. To find out more about the review, including details on how to make a submission, visit:
