Landmark was one of just four exhibitors at that first expo, and branch manager Phil Wallace remembers spending the day carting around “a few dog biscuits and a pallet of salt blocks”.
He said they never could have imagined how large the event would become.
“We have been there from the start 25 years ago, “ Mr Wallace said.
“It’s just grown and I think it’s because it has grown in diversity … Nyngan Ag Expo doesn’t only cater for the locals but also a large number of people from adjoining towns and outside our region.
“Just participating in a great day that brings everyone together is a plus.”
In 2017, organisers of the expo are expecting about 4000 people to pour through the gates on Saturday, August 5.
They are anticipating more than 300 exhibitors, including at least 44 first-time exhibitors.
“Some people come 700-800 kilometres, which is incredible for a field day,” Mr Wallace said.
Landmark and Cobar’s Parisi Motorcycles are the only two original exhibitors still standing.
This year the Landmark team will bring something extra to the table when they feature the latest in drone technology from Anax, animal exclusion fencing from Waratah and livestock marketing options from Auctionplus.
“Field days used to be machinery orientated. The Ag Expo is a lot more with the diversity of exhibitors, in particular food and wine, and sheep displays,” Mr Wallace said, adding it was important for Landmark to support the event.
“It’s a good boost for the town with the large number of exhibitors and people coming to the event,” he said.
“It’s a major event for the district and we’ve been part and parcel of the district for many generations and we want to continue that.
“You want a good place for your kids to grow up, and the best way to achieve that is to support the local town.”
