Residents are being asked to nominate great Australians in their communities for the 2018 NSW Australian of the Year Awards. Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries is urging people to nominate by the August 6 deadline.

“We have a long, inspiring list of past NSW Australians of the Year. Some of the most extraordinary people, those who make a vital difference to people’s lives each and every day, live right next door,” he said.
“It is now time to ‘be great and nominate’ for the 2018 awards, so another four amazing individuals and the tremendous contribution they make to NSW can be celebrated.”
Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said time is running out to nominate outstanding individuals across regional NSW for the 2018 Australian of the Year Awards.
“NSW is made up of hard working and community focused people that often go unacknowledged but deserve our recognition and I urge people to nominate their local hero’s,” he said.
NSW Young Australian of the Year Arthur Alla echoed the Mr Humphries call.
“Being the NSW Young Australian of the Year has been a genuine privilege as it has allowed me to meet some of the most interesting, dedicated and caring members of our community,” Mr Alla said.
“I urge everyone to nominate someone who has helped make their community a better place. This recognition will help inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”
Those selected for the State’s honours become eligible for the national Australian of the Year awards, announced each year on Australia Day.
