The highway had been closed between Nyngan and Nevertire while a clean up was undertaken.
Diversions through Tottenham and Nevertire have also been lifted.
A reduced speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour is in place while crews continue the salvage and clean up off the road.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and continue to allow additional travel time.
8.45AM: Stop slow traffic conditions are in place. Motorists are warned to still allow extra travel time.
8.30AM: Mitchell Highway is closed in both directions at Nyngan due to a lost load of metal pipes from a truck between Nyngan and Nevertire.
Traffic is being diverted through Tottenham and Nevertire in each direction along Tottenham Road, The Bogan Way, Tabratong Crossing Road and Nevertire-Bogan Road.
The diversion is suitable for all vehicles.
Motorists are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time as the diversion will add an extra 80 kilometres.
