Young superstar Tim Walsh wins gold.
Tim was part of the western division high school team today that won the gold medal match vs Sydney was such a great achievement.
Tim has done his club and town proud. Has been a god month for our young 16year old star.
Fresh off winning a state pennants title, backs up with a gold medal! Future looks bright for this young bowler.
Might have to get the cheque book out to keep him. Last time a Nyngan bowler won gold playing for high schools western division was 2007 when Andrew Reynolds was lucky enough be apart of the (07) team!
Been 10 years between titles! Great job Timmy. Nyngan bowling club does produce some good juniors
Nyngan ladies Grade 4 pennant teams travelled to Terrigal for State pennants during the week.
They played excellent bowls but try as they may were not successful in winning the section coming in second place.
Never mind girls there is always next year and congratulations on getting to State bowls.
Championship bowls rounds: Minor singles winners Rose Ryan defeated Margaret Morley.
Patrick Hogan defeated Colin Gillespie. Mixed Pairs Mick Parry and Helen Beetson defeated Todd Rope and Teressa Rose.
Handicap Singles Craig Grimmond defeated Kevin Reynolds. Rex Vane defeated Rodney Ryan.
Consistency Trae Smith defeated Colin Williamson by a very good margin and will be someone to watch in future games.
Social Bowls: Golden Oldies winners Helen Beetson, Paul Williams and visiting bowler Margaret.
Wednesday afternoon bowls winners Doreen Read and Betty Carney who defeated their opponents by a large margin.
Not saying who they were. Sunday Bowls winners Maxine Christoff, Wayne Kearns and Ron Sullivan.
Golf
Croc Read tamed the gale force winds in Saturday's par event. He was plus three on the windswept front nine then on the more sheltered back nine he didn't have as much success finishing on plus three.
Mark Keighran and Les Dorrington suffered the same fate Keiro was plus two then faded out to finish with plus one.
Dorro was plus four after 11 holes then lost the plot completely finishing all square. A disappointing result for them.
Sunday's four ball was a game of contrasts with Royden Donohoe and Tex Tomek off to a flying start then coming to a shuddering stop when they both went over the fence on the fifth.
Then Pat Walsh and Barry Howell became the pace makers until they were overtaken by Dolly Ryan and Chris Johson.
Then they stumbled and Pat and Barry regained the lead and finished with 44 points, Dolly and Chris had 42 way behind was Royden and Tex on 38.
The ultra consistent Di Donald broke through for a long overdue win in the mid-week competition. A dedicated walker she keeps up with the buggy people easily.
Her 36 points was three better than Tex, another walker Chris Johnson had 32 points and should soon be in the winners list.
Pin winners for the week were Croc, pat, Barry and a double to Tex. The badge draw went off again last week so its back to $200.
Our jackpot putter Leroy dipped out on $1500. Last week surely it will be won this week. A stableford next saturday and par event on Sunday both medley games.
RUGBY LEAGUE
-by Trevor Waterhouse
The might tigers have booked themselves a spot in the major semi-final against CYMS with a dominant 30 to six victory over the Forbes Magpies in, at times, a spiteful encounter at Larkin Oval.
The big Forbes pack tried to out muscle our boys but they came out short with our big men giving them as a good as they they got.
Old Lurk, and Coatsy laid the platform early on, they were outstanding in the opening 20 as were backrowers Loma, Norm and Benny.
Benny was unreal with the footy he made big metres in the middle. Forbes deadset couldn't get hold of him. We held a 16 to six lead at half time.
Coach Stuey Mills would be wrapped with the boys the way they stuck to their game plan in the second half and went right on with the job.
The win was again built on defence our boys kept working for each other and kept turning Forbes away.
Reece Goldsmith lead the way in the middle. His aggressive defence was unreal.
A couple of one on one tackles he made on much bigger men than himself were as good as you will see.
The reserve grade clash saw Dek's men way too slow out of the blocks and allowed CYMS to race to a match winning 26 to nil lead by half time.
Our big boys got caught out in the middle with the CYMS number nine cutting us to pieces early. on.
To the boys credit they dug deep in the second half to make a bit of a comeback to see the final score 34 yo 18 in CYMS favour.
Justin Cox tried in cain to lift his side but it was just wone of those days where things didn't go our way.
That's footy and I'm sure Dek will have the boys back on the job for their elimination semi against Wellington in Forbes on Saturday.
The under 19s travelled to Parkes for their elimination semi-final in bitterly cold conditions.
Our boys scored five tries to four but went down 24 to 20 to see us bow out for the season.
This was a game where I felt like we were going a bit better than them but a couple of lapses being at the start of each half cost us dearly. Young Cooper Ryan was once again a stand out.
He looks a footballer this bloke, he has handled the step up to under 18s with ease and will only go from strength to strength in the next couple of seasons.
Big Ned Dawson was also good as was Liam Burrington who worked hard all game.
the boys can hold their heads high they had a red hot crack and were a big unlucky in the end.
I would like to give a huge wrap up to all the supporter who turned out in Parkes, the parents, grandparents and players that made the effort.
It was unbelievable and I think its this sort of support which gives us the edge over our rivals. It was about four degrees in Parkes on Saturday.
For those people to make the five hour return trip to sit in the freezing cold speaks volumes for our great club.
Thanks heaps to the Tigers. See you in Forbes this Saturday and Dubbo on Sunday. We will turn Caltex Park into a sea of black and golf.
