That was the message from DNA president Karen Weekes after Saturday’s bumper day of action, all played out in front of a healthy crowd at the Nita McGrath Courts.
The Fusions club celebrated in A Grade with Heat downing Fire and the club finished the day with four titles.
Trangie, in its first year competing at Dubbo, won in C Grade with its Thunder side claiming victory while the Deadly Dragonflies took out Division 2.
There was also grand final wins for the Apollo, Narromine, Nyngan and Saints clubs.
“There was wins for a lot of different clubs. Sides like Trangie and Nyngan and then the more traditional Dubbo clubs so we’re very happy,” Weekes said.
“There was a huge representation and some really great contests and that shows we’ve got a lot of depth in talent.”
While seeing so many young players, many of who have played at a representative level already, play on the big stage was a real highlight, Weekes was delighted by the array of netballers in action on Saturday.
“We had girls as young as 14 in grade games playing against women over 50 so there’s not just depth but a range of ages,” she said.
Weekes added with the continual growth in player numbers in recent years, there was every chance the competition would outgrow the Nita McGrath Courts in the very near future.
A grant of $18,713 from Dubbo Council as part of the Stronger Communities Fund Community Grants may help the DNA deal with that.
