Another open title to local David Rose in the Nyngan Open Golf Tournament he had very strong opposition in particular a couple of scratch markers from Brewarrina in the Bennett brothers and our own hot shot golfers, Dave finished on par figures (68) a big factor was the way he played the par threes finishing one under for the par fives he dropped a few shots on the back nine and had a four shot margin over Croc Read who played his heart out but couldn't match Rosie on the par threes and fives finishing a couple over on them.

NETBALL
Division 4 Netball
Congratulations to Nyngan Tigers Division 4 netball on their Grand final win on Saturday. The girls defeated Narromine 39-19. Under the watchful eye of their awesome coach Donna Smith the girls were well prepared and focused. The team ran proudly out to take the court under the Nyngan Tigers banner along with the under 12s team and of course our Nyngan Tiger mascot. The girls led at the end of the first quarter 11-4 with shooting in the capable hands of Eliza Finlay and Holly Vernon. Abbie Smith was a quick and conscientious centre that kept the opposition on their toes. At half time, the score was 18-8 with Katelyn Colye and Anastasia Walsh both proving strong in defence and limiting Narromine’s chance of scoring a goal.
Brooke Bunting was fast and on the ball throughout the game and supported Shelly as she played on the wing. At the end of the third quarter Nyngan led 29-14 but there was no time to rest for our Nyngan girls. They kept working hard with Jaynie Boland dedicated to assisting her team in all areas of defence. The girls have had a wonderful year and are very grateful to Donna for her work and guidance as a coach. They have all improved their skills due to her dedication and highly effective coaching sessions each week. Thanks also to Kristen for work as team manager. Congratulations to Division 4 on their successful year. You have a bright future together as a team and we look forward to watching you again take the court in 2018.
RUGBY LEAGUE
CRL Western Region Women’s Nines
DUBBO CYMS STAR WITH BIG WINS IN CRL WOMEN’S NINES OPENERS
GROUP 11 League Tag champions Dubbo CYMS shape as a genuine threat in the 2017 Country Rugby League Western Region Women’s Nines tackle tournament after two convincing wins in the opening round at Caltex Park, Dubbo on Sunday, September 24.
CYMS scored 12 tries all-up in big victories against Wellington Cowgirls (26-nil) and Mountain View Misfits (24-4). The Misfits are a team sponsored by Tooraweenah’s Mountain View Hotel that boasts players with connections to Castlereagh League clubs Coonamble, Coonabarabran and Baradine.
Goal-kicking is the area CYMS can improve on but with Group 11 League Tag grand final hero Majayda Darcy and star Rikka Lamb-Lane scoring three tries apiece in the pair of matches CYMS look hard to beat.
Orange Hawks also showed their claims with a 16-6 success against Group 10 League Tag premiers Bathurst St Pat’s in a replay of that competition’s tag decider. Hawks then toppled Dubbo Westside (18-10). Sophie Stammers scored three tries across the day for the two blues to impress.
Perhaps another challenger could be merged entity, and the third side to win both its matches, Oberon-Nyngan Tigers. It’s a natural joining of two clubs given their shared emblem but considering both communities are 400km apart it is remarkable how well they came together. Oberon-Nyngan defeated Dubbo Macquarie 12-4 and the Wellington Cowgirls (16-6) with Edwina Ulberg (two tries) the only multiple try-scorer, highlighting the Tigers’ all-round ability.
Dubbo Westside had an 18-nil win against Dubbo Macquarie with Tarlee Roberts’ excellent drop-goal kicking (landing four from five conversions in the two matches) sure to be an X-factor.
Bathurst St Pat’s were the other side to win one match on the day after accounting for the Misfits 34-nil in the final contest of the day. Group 10 League Tag player of the grand final Mish Somers scored a brace over the two matches for the Saints along with Meredith Jones and Romy Casey who bagged game two doubles.
Wellington Cowgirls, Mountain View Misfits and Dubbo Macquarie lost their two matches on the day but will be looking to resume when the competition re-commences on Saturday, October 7. The Western Region has been combined to allow for an eight-team competition with matches held at the central base of Dubbo.
Upon re-commencement, Western Region’s CRL Women’s Nines competition will continue until Saturday, October 28, allowing all eight clubs the chance to play 10 nine-a-side contests. The CRL Women’s Nines gives females the chance to play full-contact rugby league and many players love that opportunity. Winter CRL competitions held in conjunction with men’s senior league are played in the league tag format.
Aside from Western Region, Illawarra, Riverina, Central Coast-Hunter, Group 4, Group 19, Group 21 and Hastings League will all host Women’s Nines tackle competitions in 2017.
Country Rugby League Female Participation Officer Kylie Hilder believes the announcement of new and returning competitions is testament to the continued growth of women’s rugby league across Regional NSW.

WESTERN RAMS
RAMS RAID THE TRYLINE
DARREN Jackson’s Rams channelled the Western Division style of days gone by on Saturday when posting an upset 50-12 win over Federation of Italia Rugby League Australia at Carrington Park.
The convincing win was built around a big but mobile forward pack which made good yards in attack and hit hard in defence.
It was in stark contrast to the 2016 meeting between the pair when the slick FIRLA backs stole the show, with this year’s edition featuring doubles to Rams forwards Chris Bamford and Blake Seager.
Orange CYMS prop Bamford was named the Rams’ best on ground, but fellow front rower and skipper Brent Seager, his brother Blake, and late call up Tui Oloapu were just as impressive.
WESTERN RAMS 50 (Sam Dwyer 2, Jackson Brien 2, Blake Seager 2, Chris Bamford 2, Tom Satterthwaite, Keelan Bresac, Brad James tries; Chad Porter, Tui Oloapu, Brad James goals) defeated FEDERATION OF ITALIA RUGBY LEAGUE AUSTRALIA 12 (Todd Sapienza, Christian Bate tries; Todd Sapienza 2 goals).
