Part of the role of an Ability Linker is to help communities be more inclusive of people living with a disability and mental illness can often be an invisible disability.
Statistics show that one in five Australians suffer from a mental health disorder every year, so chances are that we have either a family member, friend or someone we know who struggles with this.
Learn the facts about mental illness and mental ill health and how this can affect people’s lives, treat people with mental illnesses with respect just as you would anyone else, and have a list of helpline phone numbers and websites handy.
All of this helps to make our community more welcoming.
