With RSL winning the toss, they would have been confident of posting a decent total.
Without their superstar, Colts batted first and put on 170, a strong total given the nature of the slow outfield.
The match saw the return of irresistible all-rounder Bill Berwick and the RSL lineup would have been buoyed by clutch signing Tate Modern.
As it turned out, neither really made their mark on the game well as Wickets fell regularly and batsmen never really got any momentum going.
They were bowled out for 52, with Terrance Ryan, Toby Miles and Stuart Barton doing most of the damage with the ball.
In reply, Aussie lost young batsmen Ryan and Barton for ducks, but some short pitched bowling was dealt with and the Bulls reached the total only two wickets down.
RSL 52 (T. Ryan 2/32, T.Miles 3/8) were defeated by Aussie Bulls 2-54 (T Miles 42 no).
Colts jag first win
It seemed the absence of regular run-getter Tim Smith lifted the Bowling Club Colts to their first win of the season.
Without their superstar, Colts batted first and put on 170, a strong total given the nature of the slow outfield.
Richie Deebank did a lot of damage, his 66 not out inspiring the younger batsmen around him.
In response, Dalkeith started strongly, Brad McDougall and Jackson Hedges regularly finding the middle of the bat.
When Colts broke that combination, however, they would have backed themselves to restrict the Canonbar-sponsored side.
They did exactly that, but Dalkeith managed 140 in a competitive game of cricket.
Colts 170 (R. Deebank 66 no) defeated Dalkeith 140 (B.McDougall 37).
