The council were contacted by now former minister for regional communications and former senator Fiona Nash via letter on October 9.
Mrs Nash said the government is not involved in day-to-day matters such as network design and selection of technologies for a given area.
“These are operational matters for the company,” she said.
Mrs Nash reassured the councillors of the service.
“Despite council’s reservations, your members can be assured that the NBN co’s fixed wireless network offers a high quality of service,” she said.
“Customer satisfaction for fixed wireless is higher than any other NBNCo technology. The network is designed to deliver high-speed broadband with download speeds of up to 50 megabytes per second.”
The council expressed their concerns with this letter at the meeting last month and resolved to “write to local Federal Member, Mark Coulton MP concerning Council’s ongoing concerns with the NBN roll out to Nyngan.”
This was moved by Jodi Douglas and seconded by Graham Jackson.
Story continues after poll.
In positive news for nbn roll out in Nyngan, the Early Learning Centre will be included in the Fibre to the Node boundary due to a request put in by the Bogan Shire Council.
Community Affairs Manager, Ian Scott, wrote to council reporting the adjustment will include the ELC without altering the original nbn map.
“I am happy to report that we will be able to include the ELC at 32 Dandaloo Street Nyngan in the Fibre to the Node boundary, without altering the fixed line footprint otherwise,” he said.
