POLICE have charged a teenager with a string of offences after he was stopped by officers while allegedly transporting illegally-caught goats.

Highway patrol officers stopped a Nissan Navara utility travelling on Tottenham Road in Nyngan at 7.50am on Sunday for a random breath test.
"Police observed a number of goats in the tray of the ute and in its trailer," officers said in a statement.
"Checks showed the driver, an 18-year-old male, was an unaccompanied learner and not displaying L-plates and the ute was unregistered since April.
"Further checks showed that the 29 goats where illegally caught."
Officers said the goats were then release and the driver was issued with a number of penalty notices which came to a total of $3149.
Those penalty notices included:
- Unaccompanied learner
- Not display L-plates
- Use unregistered motor vehicle
- Use uninsured motor vehicle
- Not complete stock statement
- Unlawfully remove animal from public place
