Manager of community services Debb Wood has deemed this plan the highest level plan that a council prepares.
“The purpose of this plan is to identify the community’s main priorities and aspirations for the future and to plan strategies for achieving these goals,” she told council at their March meeting.
Through extensive public consultation the council has highlighted a series of plans or activities to focus on.

At the March council meeting, a series of amendments were approved.
Strategy 1.3.6 was highlighted: “identify and support the social services needs of older people and active seniors in the community and provide infrastructure to support assisted and independent living and social interaction.”
New activities including “provide a clean and pleasant streetscape, ensuring regular street sweeping and cleaning of public spaces.” A review of existing garden beds in Pangee street was included in this.
Another strategy was an investigation options for beautification along main roads in town.
These ideas came from public consultation the Bogan Shire Council undertook at the end of the last year.
Mrs Wood said input has come from a workshop of councillors and senior management, returned community surveys, a community workshop, a workshop with the High School Student Representative Council, a creative writing and drawing competition with the primary schools and direct feedback to the councillors and general manager.
