Despite his side suffering a heavy loss on Saturday evening, Stewart Mills has been pleased by what he’s seen from his Nyngan Tigers in the first half of the 2017 Group 11 season.

The Tigers went into Saturday’s clash with Dubbo CYMS on the back of four straight wins but a professional and polished Fishies outfit ran out convincing 40-16 winners at Caltex Park.
The former Cronulla Shark said it was all a learning experience for his side, which sits fourth on the ladder but equal with the Forbes Magpies and Parkes Spacemen on eight points.
CYMS sits clear on top on 12.
“I think we’re doing very well,” he said.
“We’re still bonding as a team and we’re coming together well so we’ll forget about today, take a few things from it and move on to next week.”
Mills impressed in the second row, scoring a double, while all the Tigers were strong in defence with the match featuring a number of bruising tackles.
Mills’ men started the better, scoring the first try, and had most of the chances in the first half but a poor start to the second 40 stunted any momentum and allowed CYMS to get away.
“I think that’s our biggest problem. We’re bleeding too many penalties at our own end and they’re capitalising on it,” he said.
The Tigers have the chance to rebound next week at home to Dubbo Westside while CYMS meets Forbes in a grand final rematch.
