Hargreaves, along with Australian Men's Four team mates of Alex Hill, Spencer Turrin and Josh Hicks, commenced the season on a high, defeating Olympic champions Great Britain at the World Rowing Cup 2 in Poland on Sunday, June 18. The Australian men's four claimed gold in the A-final.
Following on from their successful campaign, the Men’s Four side joined with other members of the Australian Men’s rowing team to compete at World Cup III in Lucerne, Switzerland, last weekend in the Men’s Eight. Australia claimed the silver medal, going down to the European champions Germany.
It was a successful competition for the Australians, with the Women’s Four winning gold, while the Men’s Coxed Pair claimed silver. Australia finished second overall on the medal table.
Hargreaves and the rest of the Australian rowing team will now return to Canberra to continue their training ahead of the World Championships, which are set to be held in Florida later this year.
