Containers can be taken to Dunedoo Waste, 128 Avonside Road, for a 10-cent refund.
Dunedoo joins Wellington and Bourke on the list of Central West and Western NSW container collection points. The cities of Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo have not been included so far.
“The scheme will be a game-changer – 49 per cent of litter by volume is made up of beverage containers – and 43 per cent of the total volume is containers that will be caught by the scheme,” Mr Humphries said.
“The community can exchange empty eligible containers over the counter at the depot for a cash refund. Some of the smaller over-the-counter collection points have a maximum refund limit to minimise the time taken to count and verify the containers and process the refund.
“If a community member wants to return more than 100 containers to an over-the-counter collection point they can call 1800 290 691 to check for any limits at their local site,” he said.
As the scheme is rolled out more collection points will be established across the Barwon electorate.
