More than 200 people, came from places as far as Sydney and dipped into their pockets and raised $39,500 in ball proceeds and donations.
Organiser Dione Carter said: “It was a huge success. There were 240 people in attendance and everyone had a great night.”
The ball was held on the banks of the Bogan River where guests were entertained with music by Isaac Comption, an auction selling donated items and a dinner.
The money raised will go towards the Joy Blessed School in Uganda, a project that has reached the hearts of many Nyngan people.
“We prioritise what needs doing at the school and what projects are left,” Mrs Carter said.
“Things like Internet, we need a fence around the school, the kitchen, and the library.
“There’s a lot of little things that all need finishing off.”
“Money raised will also go towards paying teachers wages at the private school, so children who are not sponsored are still receiving private education at school where parents can’t afford to educate them,” Mrs Carter said.
Mrs Carter reported everyone had a great evening and said she is very grateful to everyone who made the evening possible.
“We would really like to thank our volunteers, that helped set up, helped on the night and unpack as well.”
“We would like to thank everyone for supporting it,” Mrs Carter said.
“We had quite a number of sponsors who donated everything for the auction, which is wonderful.”
“We would like to thank our sponsors including, Aussie Country Catering, 3CN Church, Nyngan Riverside Tourist Park, Bogan Shire, Paul Brooks, Sue Okane, Ag n Vet, Moby's beachside retreat, Klae McGuinnes Photography, Nyngan Rural Agencies, Australian Hotel, D & A Transport, The Cocky's wife, Colin Mayo Electrical, Heliflite, Giles Engineering, Tony Walsh sheep scanning and Caroling Gonzalez photography.”
“A special thanks to Mable Diblely for catering, she did a fabulous job,” Mrs Carter said.
