Bogan Shire Seniors Week celebrations will take place from Monday, April 9 until Friday, April 13 with a full program of free activities for those 60 and over.
Nominations are open for the 2018 Bogan Shire Senior Citizen of the Year - for residents who contribute to the community. Nomination forms are available at the front office of the Shire and at the Library.
The winner will be announced at the Bogan Shire Senior Citizens morning tea on Thursday, April 12.
The week will commence with a church service at St Patrick’s Catholic Church on Monday, April 9 at 10am, followed by morning tea.
On Tuesday, April 10 at 10.30am all members of the community are welcome to the grounds of the Nyngan Hospital (weather permitting) to enjoy local entertainer Royden Donohue return to the stage with his popular “Morning Melodies” concert.
On Wednesday, April 11 the Nyngan RSL Club will hold a Seniors Week Bingo session, with free books and a morning tea.
On Thursday, April 12 the Bogan Shire Council will hold its annual Seniors Week Morning Tea at the Nyngan Town Hall. The Nyngan High School Hospitality Class will cater for the event, and the Senior Citizen of the Year will be announced. The morning tea is free for all senior citizens, however for catering purposes please RSVP by contacting the Shire administration on 6825 9000 or via email at admin@bogan.nsw.gov.au
On Friday, April 13 the Nyngan Museum will be open free of charge for all seniors, with refreshments available. A possible trip to the Nyngan Solar Farm is also being considered.
