We enjoyed a `cuppa' and delicious morning tea — thank you Leonie for the real hot cross buns straight from the oven!
President, Di Donald welcomed those present, apologies were noted and minutes read from the previous meeting. Some items discussed included plans to travel to Parkes for the Open Gardens on April 15, visiting seven outstanding flower and vegetable gardens with funds raised going to Dementia Australia.
Donation to Nyngan Show Society for $120, being $100 for Miss Showgirl, and $10 each for flower section and photo section. Donation of $100 to Jason Smith fundraiser. Plans were discussed about a proposed visit to Lightning Ridge on July 13-15. Cost approximately $300.
A bus would leave on Friday 13, have two nights and three days in Lightning Ridge, returning July 15. This historic town offers a unique experience of opal mining past and present, with plenty of opportunities to view and maybe buy some of those beautiful Australian gems.
A most informative and entertaining talk was given by Margaret Gudgeon as she recalled incidents from her recent cruise to Tasmania.
Ten local ladies travelled together for the first time, thoroughly enjoying being 'spoilt', exploring the amazing facilities on board ship including a skating rink, spa, theatre shows, a chocolate night, shopping and delicious meals served by very attentive waiters.
Our next meeting is planned for April 23 to be held in Rotary Park. New members are always welcome. Looking ahead, Gai Lister has kindly offered her garden for our May meeting to be held in conjunction with raising funds for "The Biggest Morning Tea". Your support would be appreciated.
