The Tigers will have four players in action this weekend representing Group 11 in their annual clash with arch enemies Group 10. Ned Dawson, James Fisk and Sam Simmonds have been chosen in the u23 side which will be coached by Col Wright whilst Benny Cockasinga has been picked at lock forward for the first Grade side, congratulations to those players and there area a couple more that can consider themselves extremely unlucky to miss out namely Cooper and Terry Ryan in the u18s and Jacob Neill and Crete Waka in the 1st Grade side.
The Old Boys and supporters club will be in action once again, $100 gets you entry into each home game excluding Semi's, a Tigers Polo plus food and drinks at our Old Boys day. This is great value and it also helps the Old Boys greatly.
Nyngan CRL Challenge
All roads once again lead to Nyngan this weekend for the Nyngan CRL Challenge (formerly the Nyngan Rugby League Easter Challenge).
The challenge is in its 12th year and has been a continued success due to the support of sponsors and volunteers. Again Aeris Tritton Mines and the Nyngan RSL are the major sponsors with the Bogan Shire Council fully behind the event to ensure the successful running.
All people involved wanted to see the challenge held in Nyngan again. The challenge provides a junior rugby league spectacle that is rarely seen out in Far West NSW.
The Challenge is not just about rugby league. All teams will participate in the Golden Tusks games with the winning team having bragging rights for the next 12 months! Part of this year’s Golden Tusks will have the boys put on a bit of entertainment at the Nyngan RSL on Saturday night so please come and check it out!
Gates open 8:30am on Saturday morning and 9:00am Sunday with the weatherman predicting warm, sunny conditions. Donations of cakes and slices will be gratefully accepted and can be left at the Rugby Union Clubhouse. In the past the visiting teams have rated the home-cooking of the Nyngan community the best they have ever experienced!
See you on the weekend!
Nyngan Golf
Chicky Parry was the gun golfer over the weekend winning Saturdays Par and Sundays four ball. Plus three was his score on Saturday, playing off a low handicap of 7. He gives away a lot of start to the rest of field, good long drives and good putting is his strong points. Dave Buggy was second with Square, his game is completely opposite to Chicky's however he has the uncanny knack of recovering from bad situations. Tex Tomek was third also with Square. He was fairly steady all day without looking a likely winner. Brendan Burt partnered Chicky in Sundays four Ball, after an average first nine of 20 points they zoomed home with 25 points, a birdie to each of them over the last few holes have them a narrow one point margin over John Wynne and Jamie Barrow. they also excelled on the back nine with 24 points thanks mainly to Mr Wynne who was two under for the last six holes, Jamie couldn't get a look in. third place on a count-back with 43 points was Tristan Dalforno and the dejected seagull Steve Peterson. The only pin winner over the weekend was Codge McCarthy the rest go into a jackpot.
A couple of weeks ago Cameron Bourke had an amazing round securing 50 points with a washout in an individual game, something unheard of. Coming up next Saturday is an 18 hole Stableford and Sunday is Opening Day, a three person Ambrose sponsored by Tim and Janine Tulenew along with Nyngan Innovations, always plenty of prizes and lots of variety. Badge draw this week is for $500, the elusive Jackputt is worth $1750, Roydon dipped out last week. Coming up on the 28th is 'Can Assist Day' three Person Ambrose sponsored by Bill Hare and Central West Carpets plus Royden after the golf.
