Nyngan’s Division 1 netball team coached by Kasey Douglas has had a great start to the season with two wins from two games but this week was always going to be a hard game up against the top of the ladder team of Deadly Dragonflies.
The tigers started slow but to their credit crawled back to be only two down at quarter time.
At half time Nyngan were ahead by two thanks to some great work in the mid court from Jaynie and Saranna who fed well into Ebony and Millie who were almost flawless with their shooting.
We slipped a bit behind in the third and with Millie on the sideline with an injury, Serenity took up the shooting and showed her versatility playing a fantastic game in both attack and defence.
The tigers came back in the last quarter with some great intercepts and rebounds from our defenders Katie, Bailee and Lilly.
The final score was 55 to 45 Deadly Dragonflies way but the girls should be very proud of the way they played.
A big thank you to Kasey for all her coaching expertise.

Rugby League
The Nyngan Tigers had a rough day at the office on our road trip to Parkes where we came up short in the four grades against the Parkes Spacecats.
Injuries and players missing for various reasons played havoc in our first and reserve grade sides with Jacob and Tooley having to call on our under-18’s to help out.
The ladies came up against the ladder leading Parkes girls and were always up against it.
The Tigers drew first blood but after that it was a battle.
Maddie, Emma and Brittany tried hard as did Rachel and Lucy.
The Juniors did it tough against a red hot Parkes side.
We were out sized right across the park, but to their credit the boys never stopped trying and can hold their heads up with their effort.
The Reggies were gallant before going down 34-16. Our boys had Jak Jeffery, Terry Ryan and Sam Canty back up after playing Juniors and the three of them were standouts for Tooley.
Parkes only got away from us at the end with the final score not a real indication of the game.
Tooley was missing key men in five-eight, Rob Cane and Old Coxy at hooker and there presence in attack was sorely missed.
Gus Currans was strong as was big centre Liam Durrington who stood out with and without the ball.
The first grade match was in the balance with the scores locked at 12 all with twelve minutes to go, but Parkes finished a bit strong for us running in three unanswered tries in the closing stages, to see the final score 28-12 in Parkes’ favour.
I would like to make special mention of our under-18s who backed up and helped us out.
Jacob Shone made his first grade debut backing up after playing a full game in under-18s.
Young Shoney started on the wing in first grade and more than held held his own. Super debut mate, and I’m sure we will see plenty more of you in first grade before the season is over.
Jak Jerrery put in an iron man performance for his club, playing full games in u18’s and reserve grade before coming off the bench to play 30 minutes in first grade.
Mighty effort mate, this little bloke bleeds black and gold and the future of the Tigers is bright while we have kids like him coming through our system.
If the game only went for 60 minutes we would have got the cash, but we just need to keep working hard and the results will come.
Benny and Fisky were best for mine, just in front of Narms and Reece Goldsmith who was solid in his comeback.
Reece is another who showed plenty of Tiger spirit to drive from Penrith on Sunday morning to help Jacob out, thanks mate.
This weekend we are at home to Dubbo Macquarie, make sure we all get to Larkin Oval on Sunday to cheer the boys back on track.
The club is running the State of Origin double once again, see Egg Tara, George, Lurk or Nelly Jeffery for tickets.

Bowls
Lady No 3 pennant team travelled to Cowra for the Regional play off on Monday and Tuesday and came home victorious after playing Gulgong coming away with a win and a draw (four and half points), Canobolas- Orange City one win and one loss (one point).
Then Canowindra winning both games (five points) which then gave us ten and half points for both days.
The girls now go to State play on the Central Coast in August. Congratulations girls.
The men who went to Tottenham and Dubbo at the weekend to play in district championships were unsuccessful.
The weather has been on the cold and breezy side over the weekend but that didn’t deter the bowlers trying to get their championship rounds done.

Golf
Sunday was a Stableford teams event with a 3/2/1 format a bit of variety to the usual games.
Seven points was the winning score by Les Dorrington, Andy Lane and Croc Read, they scored lots of points when they three scores counted and in particular when the one score counted.
Croc and Andy were standout players finishing with 74 points was Tony Lewis, Dave Bartley and Chook Hawley, a very similar scoring pattern to the winners, their stumbling block was over the cowal where most teams got into strive. Dave Bartley started with a birdie and was the pick of the team.
Next best with 72 points was Rex Vane, John Wynne and Viv Pateman with a bit of luck they could have troubled the winners Rex and John played their usual real good golf and the newcomer Viv was a big asset to the team and is a street corner tip to win very soon.
Pin winners were Tex Tomek, Croc, Dolly Ryan and Greg Matheson.
Saturday was the May Monthly Medal, very ordinary scores with Tex winning the gong with 72 nett, a scratch score of 81 for him.
Barry Howell was the runner-up with 73 nett, no pin winners on the day. Jodie Stewart with 36 points won the mid-week comp.
Dolly had 32 points, then Jenny Holmes 30 points, the shot of the week was a birdie by Jenny Worth five points on Sunday, the worst was by Barry who missed a two inch putt on Sunday after a very casual attempt.
Next Saturday is the Mick Walsh Memorial Day, a two person Ambrose sponsored by Ando, BJ, Readie and Wynnie, a 12.30pm shotgun start plus a band in the later afternoon.
Sunday is four ball Multiplier.
Badge draw is at $1000, the Jackputt is well over $300, previous winner Croc had another stab at it without success.

Bogan Bulls
A big day of rugby at Larkin Oval, saw the Bulls take on rivals The Warren Pumas in girls coming away with victories in all three grades.
The day began with the girls 7’s on show.
The Nyngan girls were in attack mode from the start, their combinations proving far too good for the Pumarettes, running away to a 49-5 victory.
The large crowd certainly gave the girls a great homeground advantage all the girls contributing to the victory.
Two tries apiece to Alana Ryan and Viv Warweg, singles to Jemma Kennedy, Sarah Walsh, Petria Quarmby, Michelle Blake and Brittney Robb.
Pocket dynamo Ella Meldrum, Kayla Hasson-Williams and Mere Golea were in everything and laid the foundation for the backs to show their class.
A second game was played later in the day, however a severe leg injury to a Warren girl saw the game called off as an ambulance was called.
The Bulls first grade side showed a week is a long time in football after their disappointment in Cobar, they regrouped perfectly for the match of the round against a well drilled Warren outfit.
The contest was a great spectacle, the ball often locked in the midfield as each side searched for a way through the brutal defence.
The young second row pairing of Fletcher Jackson and Liam Durrington put their bodies on the line time and time again, Durro getting under the skin of veteran Sinclair Steele a number of times and their contest was worth the entry fee alone.
Warren scored first through Benny Egan, Simon Bell evening things up shortly after, both kickers failing to add the extras.
Hinton then scored before half time to see the Pumas hold a 10-5 lead, coach Skimmer needing to lift the boys at the break.
Whatever he said certainly worked as the boys went up a gear and bombarded the Pumas line, Mitch Butler the first to go over the line as he played his best half of the season.
Our two props Gussy Currans and Harry Holmes, have carried the front row this season and absorbed everything thrown at them.
As they tired the combination of Brett, Tommy, Jack and Alex Miles played well above their weight to keep the Bulls right in the game.
Along with replacement Trieg DuPlessis, they wore the Warren boys down with boom centre Joney Yacadarau barging through like a freight train to score next to the posts. Brett, back with the kicking duties, converted to see the Bulls to a 17-13 victory.
The fitness of both sides certainly led to the high quality of the game.
Declan Hoare had an outstanding game at fullback and picked up three points, Fletcher Jackson back to his best two points and the excitement machine Joney Yac 1 point .
Players player Gussy Currans .
Second grade premiers back on the field for 2018 , the Bulls once again assembled a likely looking bunch to entertain the crowd, and proceeded to rattle up a 21-0 victory in the worlds longest 40 minute game on record, the siren going just before darkness took over.
Camo Bourke had a barnstorming game up front and also scored a try.
Young talent Cooper Ryan was everywhere in attack and combined well with Toby Miles Mick Bush and Jonesy to terrorise the Warren defence.
TJ O‘Brien, Kel Martin,Tim Gilmour and Michael Gibson in their Bulls debuts, were a handful for the Pumas and gave the Bulls plenty of go - forward.
Another exciting young talent Jacob Shone , scored a try and impressed with his clean outs and heavy defence.
Ageing veteran Richie Deebank, still manages to break the line but his blistering pace has disappeared, otherwise he would have a couple of tries to his name too. Jake Perko- Bennett does possess pace and scored the third Bulls try.
Toby was on line, his heavy off season program honing his kicking skills, converting all three tries.
With Jordy Keighran and the Shaw brothers along with wily Benny Fanning and gun forward Edgey rounding out the side , all looks promising for the defence of the title they won in style last season.
The rugby just gets better next Saturday, again at home where the Bulls take on Walgett in the top of the table clash. First grade 2pm second grade to follow. -by Greg Moody
