Nyngan Garden Club gathered in Davidson Park recently to support the "Biggest Morning Tea" by bringing delicious slices, cakes, sandwiches and other and hard to resist the treats. Members and visitors enjoyed a cuppa on the lawns, and admired the recently established turf lawn and raised garden beds of colourful pansies in front of the nearby CWA rooms.

A delightful addition to the beautification of our town and congratulations to the Shire gardeners. President, Di Donald, welcomed everyone and the fantastic roll up in the park.
She introduced guest speaker from Dubbo representing the Cancer Council, Susie Hill, herself a survivor. Susie spoke of the important work and research being carried out by the Cancer Council, and that 95 per cent of funds were raised by communities. The "Biggest Morning Tea" was started in 1994, and generous community supporters have raised more than $192 million by hosting morning teas.
Members were then welcomed to the Garden Club meeting in the park, and thank you to Helen Rose and others for setting up morning tea so well. Apologies were noted and minutes read of the previous meeting.
The bus trip to Lightning Ridge in July has 20 members listed to go and four spaces are still left to fill the bus. Cost is $300 and contact Mary Burley by the end of June if you would like to be included.
The visit to the gardens in Forbes on June 26 will have two car loads of members attending. Others welcome. A kind donation of bulbs by Keith White has been offered and it was decided to sell them on our plant stall at the hospital fete later in the year.
A letter to be sent to the CWA thanking them for our borrowing of chairs, tables and urns for our lovely morning tea and meeting today.
- Congratulations to our raffle winners - Mary Smith and Belle McDougall.
Everyone agreed that the park was a wonderful place for the Biggest Morning Tea to be held, and moved G. Lister, seconded H. Griffiths that we have this venue again next year. A total of $976 was raised for the Cancer Council!
Our next meeting on 25th June, will be held at the home of Debbie Pearce, 64 Hoskins Street, at 12 noon. Just bring a chair, your lunch and a hat. New members are always welcome.
