With another State Budget due out this week, which will be an Election Budget, (State Election due March 2019), Council hopes the generosity of the Coalition will continue into areas like extra Block Grant money to fund works on our Regional Roads, and more money for some of the unfunded mandates we have, like funding our Library.

Help farmers battle drought
The Premier’s recent announcement on increased funding to help farmers battle the drought is certainly appreciated, particularly the $50,000 make available to purchase fodder.
This is a loan payable in seven years at no interest designed to help producers maintain some breeding stock.
An announcement from the Federal Government that more money has been made available for Rural Financial Counselling services has been welcomed.
Council News
Council recently carried out sales of land for unpaid rates within the guidelines set by the Local Government Act.
These sales have been able to halve our outstanding rates prior to June 30, 2017, bringing this figure back to $102,245.00, a good result for Council.
After many months of dedicated reconstruction on the Bicentennial Wall at the edge of Davidson Park, all the damaged tiles have been remade and fixed to the wall.
Appreciation is extended to Peter Zanetti and all others involved in this long process of restoration.
Adventures abroad
Towards the end of the year eight very fortunate students from Nyngan High School will head off to Tongling (China) to visit No. 15 Middle School, and tour other parts of China.
Council will contribute $13,500 to help the tour expenses, with a lot of fund raising ahead for the students involved.
It is a trip that will have life long memories for these students, so please again support their fund raising efforts when they come your way.
Good progress is being made on sealing the seven kilometres of the Hermidale/Nymagee Road to the Shire boundary, funded by the State Government.
As funds become available, we will now move to sealing Cockies Road towards Collerreina.
Some late modifications to the new SES building to provide wheelchair access are finished with work now moved to the upgrade of Heritage Park.
The new SES building will hopefully see the reforming of the local unit and allow more room at the Railway Station for Museum exhibits.
