For a large part of Sunday’s game at Larkin Oval it appeared the Jets had every chance of scoring their first win of the Group 11 season.
At 24-all against Nyngan in the second half the match was in the balance, but the Tigers’ class came to the fore late on and they ran away to score a 52-28 win.
“We didn’t really come out of the sheds in the first half, but completing sets and staying in control the result was much easier,” said Neill.
“It’s been really close the last couple of weeks, but this week we’ve shown some improvement.
“I think it’s a bit of a reward for hanging in there when it’s been tough."

Neill and boom recruit Josh Merritt were in the thick of the action, the former scoring the crucial try to put his side up in the second half while the latter again guided his side around the park.
The win was made even more valuable by the fact Dubbo sides Westside and Macquarie, the two sides directly above Nyngan on the ladder, both lost on Sunday.
Nyngan is now sixth, just one point off Westside and the all-important fifth spot.
The addition of Merritt and the return of a number of players from injury has rejuvenated the Tigers and after a horror start to the season the 2017 runner-up are now in prime position to pounce on the top five.
According to Neill poor discipline will be the deciding factor in next weeks all important match against Westside, which could have a major influence on this year’s finals series.
“Completing sets were our worst enemy, but we’re definitely capable competing with the top sides.”
For Neill, Hammond Erepan and Josh Merritt were standouts during Sunday’s clash, but said it was the crowd which really motivated the win.
“Hammond has been good, especially in the last three weeks he’s really improved. I was also really impressed by the guys who backed up their games when needed.”
“It was really good to see so many people at footy on Sunday afternoon to get us home.”
“We’re really looking to gain some momentum leading to the back end of the season.”
For the Jets, Sunday marked the second time in three rounds a win has slipped through their fingers.
Narromine led Westside at half time in round seven while they went into the sheds all square at Nyngan on Sunday.
