Although learning is not what you would expect kids to want to do in their school holidays, however everyone was excited for the day of educational competition at the Trangie Agricultural Research Centre.
The event draws young, keen competitors from not only the Trangie district but surrounding areas including Warren, Narromine, Nyngan, Nevertire, Tottenham, Parkes, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Gulargambone and Orange districts.
The aim of the judging is to not only help the kids develop skills in various agricultural sectors, but also build confidence and public speaking abilities.
This year applicants assessed in sections including: beef cattle, Merino sheep, meat sheep (Border Leicesters and Poll Dorsets), Merino Fleeces, cotton, grains and Angora and Mohair.
This year Angela Littler (Mudgee) took out the title as Junior Champion Pointscore, with Sophie Maclean (Warren) announced as Reserve Junior Champion.
Brook Elsley (Coonamble) was awarded Senior and Overall Champion Pointscore, with Grace Neeves (Gilgandra) announced as Reserve Senior Champion.
It was also announced that Allie Maclean (Warren) was awarded at the Sub-jJunior Champion Most Enthusiastic award.
Trangie has been hosting the 'Junior Judging' since the 1960's and it continues to draw in large crowds of competitors.
