Education Week is a state-wide event to celebrate NSW public education, and aims to communicate the achievements of public schools and their students.
This year’s theme is ‘Today’s schools: creating tomorrow’s world’ highlights how NSW public schools are equipping young people with the skills and capabilities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
This year community members and visitors have the opportunity to view some of the teaching and learning taking place at Nyngan Public as they walk down Pangee Street.

“Nyngan Public School has a dedicated staff who provide academic, social and cultural learning opportunities for all students through individualised data tracking and learning programs,” Nyngan Public School Principal Kylie Pearce said.
“Extra curricula activities such as coding, drumming, gardening, bike maintenance, choir, dance and gymnastics are made available to students weekly,” she said.
The Secretary of the Department of Education Mark Scott said ensuring today’s students had the skills they would need to “not just survive, but thrive” in the future underpinned the department’s evidence-based approach to learning.
“I am incredibly proud of the innovative teaching and learning that is being done across our State’s public schools to ensure that every student can perform to their full potential,” Mr Scott said.
“We don’t know what the future will hold, but we do know that we are focused on equipping today’s students with the skills and knowledge they will need to lead fulfilling lives in the future.”
