This is part of a state-wide consultation and community engagement program on non-urban metering.
The community is invited to attend the Bourke session between 4pm and 6pm on Tuesday, September 11 at Diggers on the Darling, 23-25 Sturt Street, Bourke.
The meetings provide an opportunity to talk to experts, learn more about the proposed changes and discuss your concerns.
Executive Director Water, Rachel Connell, said the consultations are part of ongoing reform to improve the transparency and robustness of how we share, allocate, account for and manage water in NSW.
“In March 2018, we released a consultation paper about water take measurement and metering and held a series of meetings seeking the community’s views on how a robust metering framework could be implemented in NSW,” Ms Connell said.
“The vast majority of respondents from those consultations agreed that accurately measuring water is necessary for both managing our valuable water resources, and providing a foundation for delivering a robust and defensible compliance and enforcement framework.
“This consultation provides opportunity for the community to comment on the drafts to ensure that the final policy and regulations for non-urban water meters are practical and can be implemented effectively,” she said.
The community consultation period is open from 27 August – 30 September with stakeholder events scheduled for Moree, Gunnedah, Bourke, Dubbo, Bega and Albury.
