The much-anticipated Nyngan District Cricket Association season starts in earnest this weekend, offering what looks to be a salivating season for both players and punters alike.
This year three teams are competing, with Cameron Bourke set to captain the RSL, Jackson Hedges to captain Dalkeith and Adrian Taylor to lead the Aussie Hotel. The Bowling Club Colts unfortunately aren’t returning as player numbers dwindle.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Club Secretary Jackson Hedges said despite only three teams in the competition this year, there is still plenty to watch out for this season with a number of off-season transfers and recruits.
“Unfortunately the Bowling Club Colts side could not form a team this year, but we’re hoping to re-form next year if we can get more players,” Hedges said.
“Hopefully this season we can get some strong participation so next season we can move back to four teams.”
For Hedges a player to watch would be Jak Jeffery who has moved to Dalkeith from the Colts for this season.
Hedges also said this year the RSL look forward to being led by Cameron Bourke, and will see Tyler Martin take to the pitch for the team after playing in Dubbo last season.
Dalkeith will also welcome Nyngan’s newest resident Tony Payne, who has moved from the Southern Highlands area.
“It should be a really good one this season, there’s plenty of new and seasoned players ready to play.”
This Saturday, October 13 the Aussie Hotel will take on the RSL at the Frank Smith oval at 12pm, with Dalkeith having the bye.
