Handicap Pairs semi final round:  Debbie Piper and Helen Beetson defeated Doreen Read and Alison Hampstead.

Handicap Singles round: Jacob Homer defeated Rodney Ryan.

Nyngan bowlers travelled to Cobar at the weekend to play in the Cobar Triples. Melissa Arandale, Wayne Arandale and Rex Vane were successful in coming second place. Congratulations.

No bowls Wednesday due to wet greens and threatening rain.

Friday Barefoot bowls:  On the spot winners Anneleise Shields Malcolm O’Brien and Jimmy Cobcroft.  Fours winners Adrian Taylor, Kendall, Ian Midgley and Paul Walsh.  A good roll up of bowlers for the first night and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Sunday bowls: Winners Ken Simmonds and Ron Sullivan.  Runner up Helen Keating ,Ian Midgley and Ron Keating.

On Wednesday November 7th bowls will commence at night at 6.00pm. Names in by 5.30pm. Wednesday morning bowl be finished on the 31st October 31.

Winners of Steve and Merrill Peterson’s sponsored day was John Wynne and Tristan Dal Forno with 73 points.  the excelled in the multiplier section scoring 35pits for the six holes. 

Then between them  they couldn’t score a point on the 11th, plenty of birdies on their card and they won huge meat trays for their efforts. 

Runner up with 69 points was Tex Tomek, Tim Tulenew a solid game by them and just lacked a good score in the Multiplier section.  Brendan Smith and Tara McDermott plus Viv Pateman and Janine Tulenew all scored 67 points. 

Both failed to score a point a the 13th and 17th respectively.  At the end of the day Peto and Merrill put on a BBQ with enough food to feed an army, thank you both for the great day.   

Saturday was the Monthly Medal playoff only two contenders showed up and young Tim Lewis 66 nett with an out of bounds on the fifth got around old Tex 68 points. 

The days winner was Tim Tulla with 62 points, just a few over Par for the round, Les Dorrington and John Wynne had 65 netts.  

Pin winners for the weekend were Tex, Tim, Brendan all with doubles, plus Croc nearest in two on the eighth. 

Dean Woods had a torrid time along the river taking ten.  Peter surpassed that with thirteen on the last.

Week one of Twilight went to Aussie Hotel 48 points on a count back. 

Saturday is a Par Event and Sunday is Murphy’s Home Hardware day, a three person Ambrose (drop-off) also the Melbourne Cup Calcutta at The Golfie on Monday, November 5.

Tough old galloper Long Lasting kept fighting all the way down the straight to score a gutsy win in the 1200 metres Aquawest Dandy Cup, feature event at the Narromine TAB meeting on Saturday.

Trained at Narromine by Kylie Kennedy, the nine year old Long Lasting ( $11 ) held a slender lead turning for home and under vigorous riding from Jake Pracey-Holmes held on to beat Zoutenant ( Wendy Peel, $8 ) by a long head with a half head to third placed Any Blinkin’ Day ( Ashleigh Stanley, $15 ).

Long Lasting has now recorded 11 wins and been placed 12 times from 71 starts.

Cowra jockey Eleanor Webster-Hawes made the most of her only ride at Narromine  when winning the Adors Hire Class 2 Handicap ( 800 metres ) on Noble Hussler.

Given a nice run behind the leader French Giggle,the Andrew Molloy trained Noble Hussler ( $9.50 ) in an exciting finish won by a half head from Algeroba ( James Rogers, $31 ) with French Giggle ( Ashley Morgan, $41 ) a neck away, third.

Formerly trained in Queensland, Noble Hussler is ridden in trackwork by Eleanor Webster-Hawes and was was having the second start for the Andrew Molloy stable at Cowra.

Reared at Tottenham, west of Narromine, Allan McRae now a successful trainer at Yass often travels back to central west meetings and on Saturday won the 800 metres Bourchiers Macquarie Valley Fuels Maiden Plate with Haralben.

Clinging to a narrow lead in the straight, Haralben ( Robbie Brewer, $15 )was under siege  but lasted to score by a short head from Trojan ( Tony Cavallo, $2.40 favourite ) with Call Me Trinity ( Adrian Robinson, $21 ) a handy third.

Backing up from a last start win at Grenfell, the Wayne Collison, Narromine trained Some Nights ( Kath Bell-Pitomac, $19 ) came from midfield to overhaul the giant galloper Perpetual Motion ( Tony Cavallo, $4.80 favourite ) close to home in the Agrigrain Benchmark 58 Handicap,1600 metres.

Tamworth based apprentice Wendy Peel who won three races last week at Gulargambone including the Cup on Medal Afrique, brought the Garry Lunn, Dubbo trained The Flying Scot ( $4.20 ) with a well timed run to win the Maiden Plate ( 1300 metres ) at Narromine from the leader Southern Strategy ( Andrew Banks, $2.70 favourite ) and You Know Zon ( Jeff Kehoe, $14 ).

Other winners were Poppy’s Freckle ( Adrian Robinson, $21 ) trained at Dubbo by Clint Lundholm and the Rod Northam, Scone trained Dubai’s Got Talent ( Ashley Morgan, $5.50 ). Racing at Bathurst on Friday and Mudgee on Saturday.

Coonabarabran Races

Red Knot, recent winner of the Coonamble Cup, completed the Western Districts feature double with a runaway win on Monday in the $45,000 Coonabarabran Bowling Club-Coonabarabran Cup over 1600 metres.

Taken to the early lead by apprentice Reece Jones, Red Knot ( $3.60 ) cleared out in the home straight and won by over four lengths from Miami Dade ( Josh Adams,$3.60 ) and Ima Baker ( Tony Cavallo,$41 ).

Owned by Paul Frampton and Reg Inglis and trained at Scone by Rodney Northam, Red Knot had also won the 2017 Coonabarabran Cup 

Apprenticed to Rodney Northam, Reece Jones has experienced an incredible start to his career having won at his debut ride at Tamworth less than two months ago and since winning the Coonamble Cup and Coonabarabran Cup.

Included in a winning treble for trainer Rodney Northam at Coonabarabran were The Debater ( Greg Ryan, $3.70 favourite ) and Dreamnomore ( Josh Adams, $4.20 ).

At the highly successful Cup meeting there were many amongst the big crowd cheering the win of locally owned Sea Lady in the 1400 metres Barron’s Tyre and Mechanical Benchmark 66 Handicap.

Coming from near last, the talented Sea Lady ( Greg Ryan, $3.70 ) produced a strong finish to beat Hammoon Bridge ( Mathew Cahill, $3.30 ) by a half neck with Beale Street ( Josh Adams, $6 ) in third place.

Sea Lady, runner up in the Country Championship Qualifier at Dubbo earlier this year, is owned by Rob Mathews and Wayne Martyn from Coonabarabran and until recently was trained by Wayne Martyn who is currently serving a Suspension for training a horse led from a motor vehicle.

Until returning to the Wayne Martyn  stable, Sea Lady is under the care of Gulgong trainer Brett Thompson.

Back in form, Molasses trained at Forbes by Dennis Bush and raced by Danny Kotel from Grenfell, beat a good field in the $27,000 Regional Australia Bank & Ausure Insurance Cup Day Sprint Over 1100 metres.

Tully Ho and Epic Decision set the pace until Molasses ( Eleanor Webster-Hawes, $11 ) took the lead and held on to score by a short neck from Our Dasha ( Greg Ryan, $2.15 favourite ) and Under The Thumb ( Wendy Peel,$4.60 ).

Coonabarabran Jockey Club President Stewart Rogers announced at the Meeting that Racing NSW has advised the Coonabarabran Cup usually held on a Monday will in 2019 be held on Sunday, October 27.  Racing at Bathurst on Friday and Mudgee on Saturday.
