Organiser Wendy Beetson said Australia has over 2.7 million unpaid carers that make an enormous contribution to our communities and it’s important to celebrate the generous and sometimes thankless work of some of our carers in our Shire.
“National Carers Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness among our communities about the diversity of carers and their caring roles,” Ms Beetson said.

“If a person provides care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, mental illness, who is frail, has a chronic condition or terminal illness or has a drug and alcohol dependency, they are a carer,” she said.
Ms Beetson successfully obtained a grant offered by Carers Australia to host the event in Nyngan and is inviting members of the community who provide care and support to come along to the morning tea.
“It is an informal morning for carers to just have fun, enjoy the company of other carers and to take a break from their caring role for a while,” Ms Beetson said.
The Carers morning tea will be held at the Bowling club on Wednesday October 24 from 10am and will host games, quizzes and lots of prizes to give away.
Ms Beetson will also have information and brochures on the services available for Carers in our community.
