Despite last year’s success, the Nyngan Blue Sky Ball faces the axe as low ticket sales cause the committee decide whether to continue. 

The group announced on their Facebook page Monday evening a last call for ticket sales revealing that the event is unlikely to go ahead without support. 

“Hello Blue Sky Ball friends. This is the final call to purchase tickets, absolute last chance,” the post read.  

“We will be honest, ticket sales have been slow, and unless we sell 100 tickets in the next 2 days the event is unlikely to go ahead.” 

The ball aims to raise money for Batyr, an organisation which starts conversations about mental health. 

Last year’s event hosted 300 people and raised $14,000 which went toward the batyr@school program to support youth in the region. 

Blue Sky Ball co-chairperson Grace Wells-Budd said the committee understand people are doing it tough at the moment, but they are hoping the event would help people take their minds off the drought. 

“We were hoping the night would be a huge success to support mental health, which is something that affects so many in our region especially during these dry times,” Mrs Wells-Budd said.

“But we understand people are doing it tough at the moment due to the drought.” 

“We unfortunately now have to make the decision if the ball will go ahead. We hope some people will want to get on board to help us help others.”

To welcome in the new year at the Blue Sky Ball tickets are on sale  for $150 which includes all beer, wine and champagne, roaming canapes, auction and live entertainment by the Jade Martin band.
