Believe it or not, fine knock from Bill Berwick helped RSL to their second win in a row in the competition on Saturday, with the burly right-hander helping himself to a half century.
Facing competition leaders Aussie Bulls, RSL managed 140 batting first on a steamy day at Frank Smith Oval.
After the early loss of Cameron Bourke and Skimmer George, the stage was set for some lower order resistance but it came from the most unlikely of sources.
Berwick put good partnerships together with Michael Bush (who ran himself out) and Liam Wherritt.
The Aussie had but seven players and 140 looked good, Berwick finished on 51 not out. In reply, the Aussie never really got going.
Early wickets to Tyler Martin and Cameron Bourke left the competition leaders floundering.
Silver fox Bush grabbed a couple at the end but the Aussie could only muster 70.
The association would like to thank Wendy and Rodney Robb for their kind donation. It's these gestures of charity that keep competitions alive in such times.
Competition now takes a break until January 12 when Dalkeith takes on the Bulls.
