Nyngan Summers are hot, dry and this year especially very dusty. However the Nyngan Health Service residents have not been bothered by the heat this summer due to some smart thinking.
Nyngan Health Service Manager Jenny Griffiths said nurse Lyn Webster came up with the idea to create a tranquil, restful area for residents, families and staff to enjoy in a previously unused area.

In true Nyngan Health Service style the staff rolled up their sleeves to help.
“It was under the guidance of Ms Webster and the green thumb advice from Trish McLeod that a new and amazing space was created for everyone to enjoy,” Ms Griffiths said.
“Even the residents got involved helping with the plant selection and the décor choices”. she said.
It involved everyone across the Health Service, with their local maintenance team, Richard and Justin installing a misting watering system.
“We would also like to say a massive thank you, to the Nyngan Men’s Shed, who donated a rustic sign for our rainforest retreat,” Ms Griffiths said.
“It’s been a huge hit with the residents and staff, sitting back and watching the mist drip off the leaves of the tropical plants as the dust swirls around and the temperature rises outside,” she said.
