Due to the many generous artefact donations over the last twenty odd years, we have a great need for the extra room. Not only will the extra space be invaluable, we are also intending to incorporate a couple of new display themes. Be sure to watch this space for developments.
The Museum Support Group would also like to invite new members to join our team. The group meets at the VIC/Museum on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30am.
Please feel free to come along if you have an interest in recording and preserving our local heritage.
The Support Group also volunteer to man the VIC, Museum entry and gift shop during weekday mornings from 9am till 12noon.
If you would like to volunteer a morning a month (or more if you like) please let us know. Your support and time would be most welcome.
During the last few years, the Museum has been collecting stories from pioneering families.
These are being stored digitally. If you have a story and if possible, an associated photograph, please send or bring it to us for filing.
It would be nice to have as complete a history of the foundation and development of the Nyngan District as possible.
Visit Us Today: The Museum is housed in the heritage listed Railway Station. On display is the railway switchboard, railway lanterns and much more.
The history of the Bogan Shire dates back to the Major Mitchell Expedition in 1835.
Monday- Friday from 9am to 4pm. Saturday’s from 10am until 12noon. (Sundays by appointment.)
