The competition is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists 16 years and over living in the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese.
CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes CEO Anne-Marie Mioche said with the Christmas and New Year rush and the extreme heat they’ve extended the competition closing date.

“We know there is a lot of unrecognised talent in this area and we want to make sure everyone is able to submit an entry … as the opportunities for the winners are very exciting,” Ms Mioche said.
Ms Mioche said the competition is the first of what CatholicCare hope will become an annual event to exhibit works by the exceptionally talented artists in the region.
Submissions can be on any subject and can be contemporary or traditional.
Artists from Broken Hill, Wilcannia, Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Nyngan, Warren, Narromine, Dubbo, Parkes, Forbes, Bathurst, Orange, Lake Cargelligo, Condobolin or within the Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes are encouraged to submit an artwork.
“This competition presents such a wonderful opportunity for all up and coming artists,” Ms Mioche said.
“We encourage all Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists, regardless of experience and education in the art field to enter.”
The winning artist will receive $1200, second place will be awarded $500 and $300 will be awarded for third.
Winning entries and artists will be displayed and will be the inspiration for a range of promotional products, social media, website and office displays.
Entries for the competition will now close on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 5pm.
