Australia’s leading office of online safety says they are aware of the Aussie Farms map, have received reports about it, yet do not have the power to remove it.

Released last month, Aussie Farms describe the map as a ‘comprehensive, interactive map of factory farms, slaughterhouses and other animal exploitation facilities across Australia.’
The map allows for people to submit information, upload photos, videos and documents.
Because of this many central west farmers have said they are concerned this could lead to illegal trespassing on their properties.
The eSafety Commissioner is responsible for promoting online safety for all Australians.
“The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is aware of the Aussie Farms map and has received reports about it,” a spokesperson said.
“After assessing reports, it has concluded the content is unlikely to be prohibited under Australian classification and online content regulation laws.
“As the website is hosted overseas, and is unlikely to be prohibited, the eSafety Office does not have the power to take removal action.”

The spokesperson said the eSafety Office encourages members of the public to contact police if they are concerned that a website is encouraging or urging violence, harassment or intimidation.
“If a person is in danger of immediate harm, dial Triple Zero,” the Office of the eSafety Commissioner spokesperson said.
