President of the Marra Events Crew Ange MacAlpine said this is the second ball hosted by the committee, and hopes it will become a bi-annual event, which help boost morale for everyone in the area.

“Due to the ongoing dry conditions we have had to make the hard decision not to go forward with the Marra Ewe tour this year,” Mrs MacAlpine said.
“The ongoing dry conditions means it more important then ever to boost morale within the broader community.
If we cant have rain we might as well make the Marra wet again with a nice cold wet beverage.

“What better way to do this then to get everyone together from surrounding communities to enjoy some fabulous food, great entertainment and of course share a ‘wet one’ with a mate.

Mrs MacAlpine said the night will feature food by Deer Dingo catering, live entertainment by ‘Don’t call me Shirely’, an auction and art exhibition featuring local artists.
“We are also lucky enough to be featuring artists from outside our region including QLD,” Mrs MacAlpine said.
Money raised from the event will go toward maintaining and repairing the Marra hall.
“We are extremely isolated being 100 to 180 kilometres from Nyngan, Warren, Walgett and Coonamble, and the hall is the heart of our small community,” Mrs MacAlpine said.
“We will also nominate a local charity to receive some of our profits.”
Mrs MacAlpine said the committee are also seeking donations to help purchase an all expenses paid holiday, for a lucky door winner.
“It’s something that anyone in this dry little community would love to be the lucky recipient of,” she said.
“Time away from the relentless feeding of stock is much needed.”
The Marra Arts Ball is on May 4 from 6.30pm until late.
Tickets are $90 per person and can be purchased from 123Tix.
Buses will be available for people travelling from Nyngan, Warren and Coonamble.
