A NSW man accused of possessing a handgun linked to the daylight murder of former bikie boss Mahmoud "Mick" Hawi has spent the night behind bars.
Jamal El Jaidi, 31, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with possessing a prohibited pistol.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused at Burwood Local Court on Thursday.
Mr Hawi was shot as he got into his car outside a gym in Rockdale in Sydney's south in February last year.
He later died in hospital.
The alleged shooter ran from the scene with detectives discovering a firearm in a garage allegedly used to store one of the getaway cars.
El Jaidi was ordered to appear at the same court again on March 6.
