Almost under any circumstances. Never.
But there's exceptions to every rule, isn't there? So you fire it off to Michelle Blake and all the Wiradjuri Goannas veteran does is laugh uncontrollably.
"They knew I was older," she begins looking at her Goannas teammates.
"And then the other day I told them that I was turning 50 ... they had no idea.
"A couple of the younger kids said, '50 ... and you're playing football'. I've loved every minute of it."
... I was really excited after we won. It's been a really good experience.
- Victorious Goannas veteran Michelle Blake.
And why wouldn't she.
The Nyngan resident has lapped up her first crack at rugby league with the Goannas in the Western Women's Rugby League open's premiership.
And on Saturday she capped it all with a premiership, too.
The 34-4 grand final win is Blake's first title of any kind, and she did so on the eve of her 50th birthday, which she celebrated on Sunday.
The mother of former Nyngan and Dubbo CYMS livewire Harry, Michelle has followed her son around the countryside watching rugby league and was initially a bit hesitant to get involved.
But she thought why not.
"When it first started I thought I'm not going to get a run ... but they said to come and have a trial and accepted me to play. I've had a ball," Blake said.
"My son played with CYMS and I've always followed him. I've just never had the opportunity when I was younger and I've always been fit so I thought I'd give it a go."
Blake started on the wing for the Goannas in Saturday's decider against the Panorama Platypi and was strong down her side's left flank.
She took a towering Bec Ford bomb mid-way through the first term and was then was tackled in an old Cumberland throw, forcing Blake to limp off the field.
"I was spewing too," she laughed again.
"I hurt my knee when I was flung around but I was really excited after we won. It's been a really good experience."
