Central West: ATO reveals average and median incomes for postcodes

Revealed: Average and median incomes of Dubbo residents

The average taxable income for Dubbo residents is less than people in Orange, Bathurst Lithgow and Mudgee.

But, the good news is that Dubbo residents witnessed the highest growth in average income over the past four years.

That's according to the Australian Taxation Office's latest release on the average and median incomes for each postcode in the Central West.

The ATO data showed residents with postcode 2800 had the highest average and median taxable incomes for the year 2016-17 compared with those living in areas with postcodes 2795, 2830, 2790 and 2850.

Dubbo

Postcode 2830 represents Dubbo as well as Ballimore, Brocklehurst and Mogriguy.

Their average and median taxable incomes for the year 2016-17 were $52,600 and $44,697 respectively.

It was calculated on the basis of 23,333 residents who filed their tax returns with the ATO.

The average and median taxable incomes for the year 2013-14 were $49,140 and $41,831 respectively.

Though Dubbo had the lowest average income compared to Orange, Bathurst, Lithgow and Mudgee, it registered the highest growth in average income in 2016-17.

The average income in 2016-17 grew seven per cent on 2013-14.

Mudgee

Postcode 2850 represents Mudgee as well as the towns of Hargraves, Havilah, Hill End, Ilford, Lue, Running Stream, Turill, Twelve Mile, Ulan, Wilbetree, Windeyer, Wollar and Yarrawonga.

Their average and median taxable incomes for the year 2016-17 were $54,571 and $41,021 respectively.

It was calculated on the basis of 9647 residents who filed their tax returns with the ATO.

The average and median taxable incomes for the year 2013-14 were $53,699 and $38,567 respectively.

The average income in 2016-17 grew 1.6 per cent on 2013-14.

Anaesthetists filled the second spot with an average income of $367,343 and internal medicine specialists came in third with an average income of $299,378.
